Supreme Court Refuses To Review Its Order On Quota In Job Promotions

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the 2006 verdict giving quota benefits in job promotions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes need not be referred to a seven-judge constitution bench. The unanimous judgement was pronounced by a five-judge Constitution bench. The bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said states need not collect quantifiable data on backwardness for giving quota in job promotion to SC/ST employees.
